Do not misuse results, attack others, or interfere with the service.
Agreement and eligibility
These Terms govern your use of the TruScope browser extension, website, accounts, and related online services. By installing or using TruScope, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you use TruScope on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
What TruScope provides
TruScope analyzes wording, sensational presentation, and directional framing in individual news articles. It may also display separately attributed publisher context. Normal article analysis runs using models and logic bundled with the extension.
TruScope does not determine whether an article is true, reliable, ethical, or worthy of trust. Results are informational signals and can be incomplete, uncertain, or wrong.
You remain responsible for evaluating source material, reviewing the cited passages, and making your own decisions. Do not rely on TruScope as professional, legal, medical, financial, safety, or fact-checking advice.
Accounts and guest use
You may use local analysis in guest mode. If you create an account, you are responsible for providing accurate information, maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials, and notifying us of suspected unauthorized use.
Accounts are used for authentication and supported preference synchronization. TruScope may suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or enforce these Terms.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use TruScope in violation of law or another person’s rights;
- use the service to harass, defame, threaten, or target others;
- circumvent security, access controls, rate limits, or origin checks;
- interfere with the service, its infrastructure, or another user’s access;
- submit malicious, deceptive, unlawfully obtained, or automated feedback;
- misrepresent a TruScope result as a factual-accuracy judgment or official endorsement; or
- use automated methods to create unreasonable traffic to online TruScope services.
These Terms do not limit rights you may have under applicable law to inspect, test, reverse engineer, or interoperate with software.
Articles, exports, and feedback
Publishers and other third parties own or control the pages you analyze. TruScope does not grant you rights to that content. You are responsible for accessing and using pages and exported analysis records lawfully.
If you submit optional feedback, you grant TruScope a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, analyze, and use the submitted rating, comment, and analysis record to operate, secure, evaluate, and improve TruScope. This license lasts only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes, subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Do not include secrets, highly sensitive personal information, or content you are not permitted to share in a feedback comment.
TruScope ownership and license
Subject to these Terms, TruScope gives you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the extension for its intended purpose. TruScope and its licensors retain their rights in the service, branding, software, models, designs, and documentation.
Third-party libraries, models, data sources, and publisher information may be governed by separate licenses or attribution terms.
Third-party services and content
TruScope works with browser pages and uses services including Google Firebase, Google sign-in, Chrome Web Store, and Resend. Those services are governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for the availability, security, accuracy, or practices of third-party pages or services.
A result, highlight, publisher record, attribution link, or reference does not mean TruScope endorses or opposes a publisher, author, viewpoint, product, or organization.
Changes and availability
We may add, remove, or change features, models, thresholds, methodology, supported browsers, or online services. Updates may alter results for the same text. We may also suspend or discontinue all or part of TruScope.
We aim to communicate material changes, but we do not guarantee that TruScope will always be available, compatible, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TruScope is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or reliability.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TruScope and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, opportunities, or business interruption arising from use of or inability to use the service.
Where liability cannot be excluded, total liability arising from TruScope will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid TruScope for the service during the twelve months before the claim or USD $25. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Ending use, changes to terms, and contact
You may stop using TruScope at any time by signing out and uninstalling the extension. Uninstalling does not automatically delete a Firebase account or previously submitted feedback; contact us for account or data requests.
We may revise these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is material, we will use a reasonable notice method. Continued use after revised Terms take effect means you accept them, except where law requires another form of consent.
